The Louisiana Association of Museums strives to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of museum personnel, trustees, and volunteers through its Annual Conference and Professional Development Workshops. Many museums in the early stages of their development possess noble intentions and goals but find themselves floundering due to a lack of knowledge of professional museum standards and methods. Other museums, even if they have been in existence longer, may have lost sight of what they originally set out to accomplish, or are at a transition point in their development. Now, in an effort to help new museums get off to a good start and emerging museums to make smooth transitions to success, LAM has developed the VISTA Program. A select group of Louisiana museums will be chosen to receive resource materials, participate in an intensive two-day workshop, and receive the help of a carefully chosen mentor to assist the museum personnel in the months following the workshop. For details on how your museum might benefit from LAMs Vista Program, please contact the LAM office.
