About LAM
The Louisiana Association of Museums is a not-for-profit membership organization founded in the late 1970s to help our state’s museums better serve their communities. An active and energetic organization, LAM offers amazing benefits!

LAM designs and distributes Louisiana Museums: A Guide to Louisiana's Historic and Cultural Treasures, listing all of its institutional members. LAM also maintains a website with an on-line Job Bank, produces a quarterly newsletter, conducts surveys to gather information for advocacy use.

Through Lunch with LAM, the organization holds meetings around the state that provide, museum professionals networking and collaboration opportunities. New and emerging museums have access to LAM’s VISTA Program, which offers a unique system for start-up operations as well as rejuvenation for museums that are going through transitions. Professional skills and techniques used in museum work at all levels are sharpened through the Annual Conference, Spring Summit, and our Professional Development Workshop Series.

LAM's Traveling Environmental Monitoring Group (TEMP) provides muc-needed assistance and equipment for collecting data about environmental issues in museums. This service is available to all of Louisiana's museums.
