The Louisiana Association of Museums will launch its annual conference in Baton Rouge with a special event titled the Heirloom Roadshow. The fundraiser is designed to provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about those items lurking in their closets and attics or collecting dust on display shelves in their homes. Everyone is invited to bring items to West Baton Rouge Community Center on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from Noon until 4:00 p.m. Leading Curators and Historians from a variety of Louisiana Museums will be on hand to examine and identify both art and historical objects and offer information about materials, dates, origins, artists and traditions.

Experts from Neal Auction Company in New Orleans will also be on hand to provide guests with a general verbal estimation of the value of their treasures. Bring artwork, crafts, historical items, unusual tools and household items, photographs, old letters, books, maps and documents. Participants are invited to bring family and friends.  They can stroll around the center and enjoy listening to the experts discuss various items.  All proceeds from the event will benefit the Louisiana Association of Museums, a not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1979 to help our state’s museums better serve their communities.
